Dolby Atmos mix
At CABLE MUSICAL we are able to produce a Dolby Atmos mix, of both new recordings and previous finished stereo recording.
On new recordings we place additional microphones that are used for the Dolby Atmos mix.
The Dolby Atmos system offers full immersive sound, completely different from traditional stereo:
1. 3D sound and spatiality:
Unlike traditional stereo sound (which is limited to left and right channels) or 5.1/7.1 surround (which only uses speakers in horizontal positions), Dolby Atmos enables a full three-dimensional experience. Sounds can be placed not only around the listener, but also above. This offers greater creative freedom for a musician or producer to place instruments, vocals or effects anywhere in the space.
2. Immersive experience:
The level of immersion offered by Dolby Atmos enhances the way listeners perceive music. A richer and more exciting listening experience can be delivered, immersing the listener in a much more dynamic sound environment, where each instrument or layer of sound seems to come from a specific point, creating a unique atmosphere. A greater transparency of the mix is achieved in comparison with a traditional stereo recording.
3. Individual control over each sound:
Dolby Atmos works with individual ‘audio objects’, rather than assigning sounds to specific channels. It is possible to precisely control the position and movement of each sound in a three-dimensional space, allowing for a much more detailed, expressive and transparent sound design.
4. Adaptability to any listening environment:
One of the biggest advantages of Dolby Atmos is that it adjusts the listening experience depending on the equipment being used. Whether it’s a home theatre system, soundbar, headphones or mobile speaker, the system adapts the mix to the playback system to deliver an immersive experience, meaning the performer can be confident that their music will sound good whatever the playback device is.
5. Greater creativity in the mix:
Dolby Atmos opens up new creative opportunities. For example, you can move sounds in space throughout a song, make certain layers appear to “float” or “move” around the listener, or emphasise sonic details that would be more difficult to perceive in a stereo system.
6. Increasing compatibility:
More and more music streaming platforms, such as Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon Music, are adopting Dolby Atmos to offer tracks in an immersive format. This gives musicians the opportunity to stand out by offering their compositions in an innovative and engaging format that many listeners can already enjoy.
Apple Music announced a new payment system for artists and labels, offering extra money to those who upload music in Dolby Atmos and stereo together.
Dolby Atmos is a powerful tool that expands the boundaries of sound, providing a completely new way to create and present music, with an unprecedented level of detail and realism.
